I heard Bethelites get just $90 per month for full time work. And I remember hearing, and this was more than ten years ago, that Missionaries get less than $200 per month. Can anyone confirm that?

Has anyone heard about this? We received an email from an old friend who is still an elder and doesn't know what we are up to. He said:
"A change, they are no longer training missionaries and sending them into foreign fields. Gilead will now be used to train COs to go into congregations with problems and build them up. Only special pioneers will be sent out of country now. Also, all the property in Brooklyn is being sold. The new Branch headquarters will be in Warick, New York."
I was thinking about this and it would seem to imply the field is saturated. There is no more need for missionaries, only the need to maintain. Which means "this good news of the Kingdom [has] been preached in all the inhabited earth." Where's armageddon?

References: what did the elders say about you to your other half during courtship?
by truthseeker inwhen you announced your intention to marry, what did the elders say to your future bride/groom?.
in a long distance courtship, did you have any trouble getting a good "spiritual" reference?.
an elder in my hall told the elders in my wife's hall that i was a low hour publisher.. .

PYRAMIDSCHEME and I had a long distance relationship. When we were contemplating marriage I asked him for the name and number of an elder in his hall. He gave me an elder who he studied with and worked with, thinking he would get a good reference. The elder not only told me that PYRAMID was a low hour publisher and not as regular at the meetings as he could be, but that his little boy (6 at the time) was a 'difficult child.' I don't really like kids, but I had already been able to judge this little boy as being surprisingly well behaved. Later, this same elder was divorced by his cheating wife and removed as an elder for going on unchaperoned dates with another sister.

I posted a blog yesterday regarding some of the occult images used by the Watchtower society. www.lunaticfaith.wordpress.com
I got an interesting response today from an apparent Russellite. I have never run into these people so I was surprised at his vehement defense of Russell. Here is what he said:
I am not with the Jehovah's Witnesses; I am a Bible student as was Charles Taze Russell.
Charles Taze Russell was never a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses organization; he did not believe in such an organization, and he preached against such sectarianism and authoritarianism. He also preached against similar "Armageddon" teachings that existed in his day. Indeed, the message Russell preached concerning "Armageddon" and the ransom for all is almost the opposite of that preached by the Jehovah's Witnesses. The true founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses organization - and its message of eternal doom for all outside its organization - was Joseph Rutherford.
Russell was never a member of the Freemasons' organization, was not involved in "the occult", Satanism, spirtism, etc. His Biblical usage of "Watch Tower" had nothing at all to do with the worship of any false gods or godessses. His Biblical usage of the cross and crown symbolism had nothing at all to do with the Freemasons.Russell did not have a magazine called "Golden Age" (Rutherford introduced that magazine after Russell died)j, although he did borrow the term of "the ancients" to illustrate what Paul wrote of, that the groaning creation - the whole world of mankind - is [ignorantly] waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19-22) Russell certainly did not use that term to condone the views of any of the heathen.
Man, indeed, being condemned through the sin of Adam, and subjected to vanity by God, cannot produce a new creation, a human creation that is not under the subjection of the present sun of vanity. No man can make himself straight. God could, however, produce a new creation (Jesus) who is the sun of righteousness. One can be made straight (justified) through faith in Jesus. - Ecclesiastes 1:2,9-15; Acts 13:39; Romans 2:13; 3:20-28; 5:12-19; 8:19-22;
What do you think? Please feel free to comment on my blog if you have a response for him. I remember reading of Russells apocalyptic visions (most recently, I think, in Crisis of Conscience) but do not think the poster would respect that reference. As to masonic, the cross and crown are masonic. Duh! I saw one outside a masonic lodge not two months ago. What else could it mean?

I have been noticing we ex-JW's are very different in our choices of beliefs once we leave the WTS. Some choose Christianity, others flee Christianity. Some find they can't beieve in anything any more. I think most of us go through changes as we grow and separate ourselves from the cult mentality. What journey of spirituality, or awakening, have you enjoyed? Where are you now? And how did you get there?

Yesterday I attended an event designed to invert the energy patterns of 9/11 by simply choosing love as THE frequency of choice. It was a worldwide event where people of the new age/wiccan/pagan communities got together and at the same time visualized a blanket of love drowning out the negativity born on 9/11/01. It occurred to me, that while 'worldly people' were focused on positive feelings and community responsibility, the JW's were learning about hatred and fear and judgment. I remember as I was at the event, visualizing love spreading across the world, I imagined a glittering cloud joining with others from all across the world. We were meeting at a place near a local KH I used to attend. I imagined the cloud of love trying to penetrate the bubble around the KH, but all I saw was emptiness. It was like a black void, completely repellent to positive thought. That proved to me, more than anything, who is truly 'mentally diseased.'

If all religion has such sub-standard art, I'm definitely going to start rooting for the other team.

Exactly, Painted. The trip from here was 135 miles, with at least one night in a hotel and two days of food. Not to mention gas. I'm not sure how anyone does it any more.

No worries 00DAD, just another one of my neuroses--which are growing fewer the longer I am away from the GB...believe it or not.

00DAD--As an INTP, my primary personality trait is accuracy. If only you knew how much learning of that one typo is going to ruin my day. I usually pre-read everything minutely, but that program took so long to type in I didn't feel like rereading it. As Lao Tzu says, "Those who point out our faults are our most benevolent teachers."
